3-Panel, 6 foot high Privacy Screen
This privacy screen was originally created for an art auction for the grand opening of the McColl Center for Visual Art located in Charlotte, NC. The McColl Center, established in 1999, is a state-of-the-art facility housed in a renovated 30,000 square foot neo-gothic church. All of the artwork created for the auction had to have a Warhol-like style.
The replicated icon on the screen is the actual church. Through a unique, photographic transfer technique, the image was able to be transferred to the acrylic to mimic stained glass.
The arches and the color choice continue to emphasize the church-like concept while intertwining the "old with the new" using color-blocking to play on the Warhol theme.
This piece was bought after the auction completed to a private collector.
